As an Advertiser, I liked the simple, straight forward idea of The Promoter and having received several new driving pupils as a result of my own adverts, knew it worked. With a Franchise, I was attracted to the fact I could work hours that suited me, i.e. around my existing School of Motoring business. All the complicated artwork and design side of things are taken care of for me, so all I have to do is encourage local businesses to place adverts in my issues. I then purchased the Rutherglen & Cambuslang Promoter area as it is close by and, working part time, sold out my issue and made a tidy profit within a month of buying the Franchise.
After producing a few issues, I bought the existing East Kilbride Promoter Franchise. I find the Promoter is an ideal business to run beside my School of Motoring. Most of my customers have advertised with me for a number of years and repeat business is approximately 90 per cent. Last year I purchased 2 additional Franchise areas, The Hamilton & Blantyre Promoter and The Uddingston & Bothwell Promoter.
I now own four Franchise areas, all close by each other and all producing a tidy profit. I also advertise my School of Motoring in my issues, so each of my businesses supports the other. I would encourage anyone who is interested to give it a go… but remember you are actively selling advertising space in your Promoter so be prepared to work hard and you should reap the rewards.

I saw the Promoter Franchise Opportunity advert on the Edinburgh Gumtree website in January 2011 and was intrigued as it seemed just the kind of business I could build and expand. I already had some sales experience selling advertising for the BT phone book, but have always wanted to start my own business. Buying a Promoter Franchise seemed ideal, I had some sales experience but have no idea how to design adverts, etc. I spoke with Danny over the phone and we arranged a meeting on Thursday 6th January.
I bought the Franchise for my area, East Lothian there and then. Everything I needed to get started was supplied including Sales Pack, Order Forms, a Promoter Email Account and even Business Cards! I started selling to my local shops and businesses the following Monday (10th January) and sold all my space within 3 weeks. I received my 20,000 printed copies of my East Lothian Promoter the first week in February and door to door delivery started immediately. I am half way through my 2nd area, which will cover the other part of East Lothian and am on target to have it at the printers by the middle of March.
I have already received great feedback for some of my advertisers who have already booked their spot in my next issue. I love the freedom The Promoter gives me and love the thrill when a customer takes an ad with me. I never forget that it is MY business and it’s up to me to make it work, but I love the fact that I am not on my own, as The Promoter Group staff are only a phone call away should I need any advice or support. Thanks to the Promoter, I have my own successful business and am making a great income doing something I love. Who knows how many Franchise areas I will have by this time next year!
